In 1996 at the San Francisco Annual HNBA Convention, the HNBA premiered Las Primeras, a visual history of 21 of the first Latinas licensed in the United States. The purpose of the Award is to continue the tradition of recognizing and honoring Latina lawyer pioneers who left her own unique mark on the legal profession, by actively paving the road to success for the Latino community or other Latina lawyers. The Award also will recognize Latina lawyers who demonstrate excellence in a variety of professional settings and personify excellence on either the national, regional, or local level.
We encourage all HNBA members to nominate a Latina attorney who has made significant contributions to the Latino legal community. For more information on the criteria and nomination requirements, click here to access the nomination form. The deadline for submitting nominations is June 1, 2010.
Each year, this award will honor outstanding Latina lawyers nominated by the membership and selected by the Commission.
