MCCA President & CEO Joe West Addresses Federal Trade Commission Employees

The panel, entitled “Tools for Maximizing Your Leadership Potential,” was moderated by the Honorable Edith Ramirez, a commissioner on the Federal Trade Commission. In addition to West, other panelists included the Honorable John D. Trasvina, assistant secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; Gilbert Casellas, who sits on the Diversity Advisory Board of Toyota; and Howard Ross, founder and chief learning officer of Cook Ross, Inc. Diversity & the Bar contributor Natalie Holder-Winfield participated in an earlier panel discussion.

West discussed the value of inclusiveness within organizations and cited several examples of how the creation of more inclusive workforces have benefitted not only previously underutilized members of organizations, but the organizations as a whole. He referenced the new work MCCA is doing to train law firms and corporations on this vital issue.
