MCCA President & CEO Joseph K. West Participates in Senate Roundtable
Focus on Job Creation and Economic Development in the African American Community

Washington, D.C. -- MCCA President & CEO Joseph K. West recently joined a group of national business leaders and U.S. senators at the U.S. Capitol for a roundtable discussion hosted by the Senate Democratic Outreach and Steering Committee. The purpose of the meeting was to gather input on issues of importance to minorities in the business community and to make suggestions as to how to increase diversity and inclusion in business and contracting.

"I was honored to be invited to participate in this important discussion," West said. "Each speaker's remarks were well received, and I look forward to follow-up meetings with members of the senate panel."

West was a member of an eight-speaker panel which also included Bob Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television; Rev. Floyd Flake, former congressman from New York; and Ralph B. Everett, president & CEO of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. Among the others speakers were Walter Davis, vice chairman of Certus Bank; Dianne Fontes, president, Nevada Minority Supplier Development Council; Ollie Garrett, president of Tabor 100; and Damon Lester, president of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers.

The meeting was led by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), who was joined by Senate Democratic Outreach and Steering Committee Chairman Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK), and fellow Sens. Daniel Akaka (D-HI), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Benjamin Cardin (D-MD), Kirsten Gillenbrand (D-NY), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI).
