Reprint Request

MCCA offers companies, law firms, and individuals the opportunity to purchase semi-customized versions of Diversity & Bar articles for professional use.  Purchasers will receive a global, royalty-free, revocable, five-year license (subject to technical specifications) to post the article on the corporation/firm website, and to print unlimited copies for distribution for marketing and client development purposes. The license does not allow the licensee to use MCCA’s content for any other purpose, including distributing MCCA materials at conferences and excerpting licensed content for inclusion in other publications.

Purchasing Single-Article Reprints

The article in question will be reflowed under the D&B masthead providing the volume and issue information for the original publication; if the article in question is the cover story, it may instead be preceded by a mockup of the cover of the issue.  If the article was comprised of discrete passages focusing on individual attorneys, the reprint may be limited to the introduction of the article and the information pertaining to the desired individual(s).

The cost of this license varies based on the requesting organization’s advertising support for the magazine. Normal delivery can be expected within three weeks from the date that the order is placed.

Getting Permission to Reprint MCCA Material

MCCA grants permission to bar associations and other educational institutions to reprint articles and research reports from our magazine and website, provided that the reprint is for educational or nonprofit purposes. In general, the material can also be used at attorney gatherings focused on advancing diversity in law firms and corporate law departments. There is no charge for use of the materials, but MCCA does not allow anyone to sell its materials for profit or to market law firms and individuals.

MCCA will review the request and, if reprint permission is granted, the following text needs to appear on the first page of the materials reprinted:

For Materials to Appear in Printed Format

Upon receiving one time non-exclusive MCCA rights to reprint the requested material, all material must appear exactly as originally printed unless approved in writing by MCCA. If the material is to appear within another article, or as a shortened version of the original, MCCA must see how the material is to be used before it can grant permission. We want our information to reach the widest audience possible, but we also want to make sure that it is being portrayed as intended.

MCCA must receive a complimentary copy of the publication containing the reprinted material.

For Materials to Appear in Electronic Format

Approved users will be allowed to keep the materials on their sites for a period of six months, at which time they will need to reapply for permission to extend the allowance period.

Please note that the policy regarding changes to printed material applies to website postings as well.

MCCA must be informed when the material is posted to the site.
